There’s still time to help us Raise Spirits on All Hallows Eve!
Spooky Season and “Trick or Treat” is one of Adahlia’s favorite times of the year! It also happens to be one of the WORST times of the year for a kid to be stuck in the hospital.
If you answered: find ways to deliver candy to those kids, you’d be right!
We’re teaming up with neighbors, friends, and the Children’s hospital staff to lift the spirits of kids who must spend Halloween in isolation or in an inpatient unit.
During the final week of October, Children’s Hospital Colorado has fun, themed events for kids. The events culminate on October 31st when doctors and nurses dress up to go reverse “Trick or Treating” door-to-door to the kids who are admitted within inpatient units or on isolation.
Adahlia remembers all-too-well (and without much fondness) what it is like to be in isolation and inpatient. And she can imagine how upsetting it would be to be hospital-bound on Halloween. (The only good thing about being inpatient according to Adahlia? Wednesday BINGO games at 1:00 pm broadcast from the hospital TV station).
For the last 6 weeks, Adahlia’s been selling bracelets to raise money to buy candy and other treats for the kids she knows are still in the hospital.
We will bring all the candy donated to us (as well as candy and festive gifts we’ve made and purchased) to the hospital on October 30th. The next day, the BMT and hospital staff will distribute it.
Want to help? Buy one of Adahlia’s Halloween-themed bracelets and proceeds will go towards purchasing fun things for the inpatient kids on Halloween!
Don’t want a bracelet? You can still help! (Click the link to donate to help us purchase items.)
If you have something specifically “spooky or kooky” in mind, send us a message to let us know what you want us to get for the kids at Children’s, and we’ll do our best! :)
